I’m often asked why I left a secure position as an International Marketing Manager at one of the most well known zipper companies in the world. Especially for the unpredictable world of consultancy in the garment accessory industry. I just felt that in my early 30’s I’d reached as high as I would go in that particular structure and I wanted to build something from the ground up. I’d started as a marketing manager for the US before working my way up to International Marketing Manager where I worked with the Director in Hong Kong to manage a global team that had one aim. To promote the company and products to gain formal nomination opportunities. Thankfully we managed to achieve great results in an extremely competitive market. The challenge of developing something unique in such a formulaic industry and without restriction was something I could not ignore. So tired from travelling the world representing the company I worked for, I left a good position for something different.
That’s where I came up with the concept of Trim Trend, a media platform that would connect buyers with quality items through journalism, consultancy and marketing. As the industry continues to evolve, I aim to build an online community within the trim accessory /garment world that doesn’t really seem to exist at the time of writing. I’m looking to develop a platform that evolves and meets the specific needs of its members, be it buyers, sellers, people in trim marketing, trainees just starting out their careers in trims or at clothing groups. Knowledge is certainly power and I feel like Ive found the perfect platform to bring you bits of knowledge that will help you on your journey within the trim/garment industries.
Substack is a growing platform that allows websites and newsletters to be sent to interested members on a regular basis. It’s my plan to utilise Substack to bring you the latest product options, trade show news and any thoughts I might have based on my experience working over ten years in this unique and challenging industry. If I feel something could be useful to our members, I’ll include it.
As the Substack platform develops so will Trim Trend. Please feel free to let me know what you want to see included from the trim marketing world. There is currently a free option to subscribe which will give you access to limited articles on product showcasing. However please consider a paid subscription to allow me to devote the time needed to bring you worthwhile content.
Join me as I embrace my writing background and attempt to bring the trim and garment industry closer through a different kind of international trim marketing/consultancy.
Thank you for your support. Tony Mc
